Photo a day challenge

My friend Jill always takes lots of cool photos of random, everyday moments that just tell a simple story.  She recently posted a photo a day challenge for January so there's a new photo topic for each day.  Although I missed the first few days, I decided to try it this month.  I'll get some practice with the camera I'm still learning how to use and hopefully get some fun shots too.   On another note, Micah is starting to mimic more of what we say and coming up with some fun times.  "Pee-boo" when he copies peek-a-boo, and "love you" are two of the cutest.

So here's my photos from the weekend.

Relax

Organized (albeit briefly)

Snow

We got a few early inches of snow and now that Micah is a bit older, we got to take him for some simple sledding- which was a lot of work for John since he pushed/pulled the sled as we have no hills.

He has many more words and can do some animal sounds too.  He really pays attention to what's going on around him and how things work.  He started putting his train tracks together himself too as he's gotten the idea of how they fit together.  He loves to play with the train and "choo-choo."

We had a great time in Chicago for Thanksgiving. Our older nieces are so helpful and play with him so well!

Charlie brown

Our church was hosting a neighborhood event last Thursday, so we figured we'd go be a prt of it and dress Micah up as Charlie brown.  Unfortunately, he got sick and spent 2 days with a fever and is still dealing with all the congestion.  However, we dressed him up anyway, and took a walk to our friends' house then Micah handed out candy from our house.

Additionally, he says more words- turtle, yogurt and cookie are the newest.  And, he's learning animal sounds despite my previous comments- moo and woof and I think quack.

I'm not sure...

I have no idea what Micah is talking about but he loves to refer to "Fuff" Sometimes, he's pointing to the fork or spoon during dinner, sometimes he's looking through the window, or pointing to the pouch of applesauce.  I hope one day I do know or that he better says the word he means.  Right now, it's really cute!

He's a climber.  I heard him playing the piano while I put away dishes only to look in on him and see that he was standing on top of the piano not standing at it.  Oh boy!  Mom, how did you handle it with me?

He continues to love his trucks and train.  He brings us the book about trains for us to read and carries one of his little trucks to bed with him.

He had a great time at the playground recently playing in the train- just "choo-chooing"  away as he took hold of the steering wheel.

a little trip up to Bear's Den

Mom and Dad helped us with babysitting for a couple days and when we finally had a bit of free time, we took a little drive and walk up to Bear's Den.  This outlook is right off the AT and is an easy hike to get out into the woods for a bit.  Micah jumped right in to climbing the rocks all by himself and began learning about different kinds of leaves.  Other kids will learn the cow says Moo and I'm hoping Micah will be able to say this is an oak tree, etc. We'll see how that goes.

Meanwhile, he still loves to point out any truck and loves to "choo-choo" when he sees a train or a picture of a train. He also likes to talk about his shoes and point them out or try on John's or mine and walk around.

Noises

Micah is getting very good at his car noises as he pushes his cars along. He's also started this little song, doh- doh doh-doh in a high little voice. He just sings to himself. I think he's mimicking what the choo choo sound of a train we've told him. And he points out his Thomas train books.
He's also started saying uh-oh when something drops.

Recent events

Micah loves to talk about fish and trucks. Everything with wheels is a truck. First it was "car" but then he picked up on us telling him that some things are trucks and now he finds anything with wheels and its a truck.

We spent the weekend at deep creek lake in Maryland with John's parents. Lots of fun and beautiful!
And we went to the lakeside beach. It didn't take long before the sand wasn't enough and Micah was in the water.

Peaches have been a favorite and Micah helped himself to the box of them on the floor.

Now, we're exploring Denver a bit and enjoying some local, easy hikes. No too high altitudes for us just yet.

Micah loves to climb still and wants to walk up and down the stairs by himself, like a big kid. He reaches for help some but generally, if he can get a good handhold on something he manages pretty well.
