The tub

Micah loves taking a bath! He starts smiling and kicking when he just hears the water running in the tub. He puts his head under the faucet and doesn't mind the water running down his face. He's also discovered the drain and has a good time pulling it up and letting it drop back down.
Micah will take steps while he's holding our hands and I can tell he's thinking when he's standing on his own and seems to want to get somewhere else. I don't expect it'll be long before he takes off on his own.
He waves hello to people, daddy got the first real wave, and there might be some "mamas" that actually means me- that or maybe it's how he's telling me he's hungry.
His favorite foods are banana, avocado, and oranges. Although be eats pretty much anything else well, he seems to get particularly excited when one of those appears in front of him.

10 month pic coming soon.

Jan 20

We had a baby dedication service at church on Sunday.  I love that parenting is a challenging and significant task before us and God will work through our weakness as we raise Micah to love Him.

We shared the time Sunday with 2 other couples from our community group who have babies just a month and two younger than Micah.  As I've wondered about so many things related to Micah's development and all the "shoulds," I'm so thankful for the friends and family God has put in our lives from whom I can ask advice and share in the joys.

Micah pulls up to stand anytime he can and is discovering new things- the tupperware drawer, the refrigerator, and how fun it is to open and close the cabinets.  He often likes to crawl with something in his hand, and he seems to really like this Ernie.  It was John's toy when he was young and now Micah will wake up in the morning and spend some time "talking" to Ernie.

Making noise

Although Micah likes to stand any chance he gets and he also likes to crawl with something in his hand- a block, stuffed animal, toy hammer, whatever. Today he had a toy with a little jingle bell in it and I could hear him coming down the hallway. Hmmm... Maybe not a bad idea.

9 mo and happy new year

Well, Happy New Year!
It's crazy that just a year ago, we were planning for and anticipating Micah's arrival.
This is his 9 month pic, as good as it's gonna get I think.  He's holding the 9 block- for a brief second he wasn't chewing on it.

He's starting to take just a step while he's standing at the coffee table. I anticipate that any day he'll cover some ground as he goes after something.

He loves looking at books with us- especially the ones with finger puppets (although he just tries to get the puppet in his mouth) and flaps.  He also is determined to knock down any tower John or I tries to build.  Sometimes we can only get 3 blocks stacked before he completes demolition.

He's standing

Well Micah pulled himself up to stand at the coffee table. He's a little shaky yet but I don't expect it'll be long before he's walking around the table.
He was really telling me something today too in the car. Just "ba ba ya ya"ing about something. He likes to come help me unload the dishwasher and climb on bailey if he happens to be lying close by.

Christmas

We celebrated Christmas in Charlotte with the Kilbys in order to meet our 5 week old nephew Badin. Micah continues his habit of putting everything in his mouth- even tried to "taste" Badin- who didn't really care for that.
And so we continue figuring things out and enjoying life with Micah.

8 months and oh, so busy!

Micah is fully crawling now...everywhere and will sit on his knees in order to reach higher after something.  I can see the wheels turning sometimes in his head and I think he's trying to figure something out.  I wouldn't be surprised if I see him "walking" on his knees one day in order to get after something.  He is a joy and a happy little guy the vast majority of the time.
The one good pic during our photo shoot because....
this is the reality of trying to take his picture.

Thanks to Aunt Sarah for his Christmas shirt.
