We celebrated Christmas in Charlotte with the Kilbys in order to meet our 5 week old nephew Badin. Micah continues his habit of putting everything in his mouth- even tried to "taste" Badin- who didn't really care for that.
And so we continue figuring things out and enjoying life with Micah.

8 months and oh, so busy!
Micah is fully crawling now...everywhere and will sit on his knees in order to reach higher after something. I can see the wheels turning sometimes in his head and I think he's trying to figure something out. I wouldn't be surprised if I see him "walking" on his knees one day in order to get after something. He is a joy and a happy little guy the vast majority of the time.

a little catching up
Micah at 6 months, and he has 2 bottom teeth.
Now in November, at 7 months. At 7 1/2 months, two top teeth are beginning to make their presence known- next stop....steak :). He's almost about ready to really take off crawling. He twists and turns and scoots around and can cover some ground and spends a good bit of time pushed up on his hands and knees. He hasn't quite coordinated forward movement like that yet but he'll flop back down on his stomach and he's gained a few inches. So, he's gotten close enough to try to chew on all kinds of unacceptable items. We have to up our game...
This is what happens when Micah decides he's done with the photo shoot.
We also took a trip out to Marker-Miller Orchards on a warm Saturday after a couple weeks of cold. We got a couple of good photos but it was tricky because he just wanted to grab the leaves (and eat them). He also got himself twisted around enough looking at the pumpkin that he toppled himself right over. No worse for wear. And so we continue the adventure- trying to stay at least one step ahead.

5 mo already?!
I feel like I could probably say that every month. He smiles readily and laughs quite a bit too. He seems quite amused by the people he meets and his parents' antics. The flight to Chicago last weekend didn't go very smoothly but we survived, and vowed to drive the next time, although 11 hours in the car could go badly as well. It was a great visit though with the Van Drunen family!

Food
We had a visit from John's brother's family, so Abigail, Hannah and Caleb met Micah for the first time. They each took turns holding him, and Caleb was so cute playing with him and getting him to smile.
So the doctor said we could give Micah real food anytime now. I made applesauce yesterday so we pureed it up a bit more and tried it out. It's a winner! Micah's little tongue was very busy, and he ate it up. I'm not really ready to give him food everyday but it was fun to give him a little taste of what's to come.

At his checkup this week, he weighed 16.5 lbs and is 26 3/4 in long.

and.... we're rolling
At 4 months, Micah has learned the wonder of rolling over and viewing the world from a different perspective all by himself. With this new ability, though he's having to learn to sleep on his stomach. That's going ok so far.

Nags Head
Micah turned 3 months old at the beach!
We went to Nags Head with the Kilby group and survived the heat. Micah didn't seem too excited about it, and he didn't like getting his toes stuck in the rather cool water.
Micah and I also made a trip by ourselves to Orlando for a conference. I was a bit nervous, but Micah slept during the majority of the flight so it was all right.
Micah is quite the "talker" and "goos" at us a lot. He's a pretty happy little guy and is pretty easy to make smile. He talks to the toys around him, and sometimes gets pretty mad when I lay him down. He cries so hard his face gets red and no sound comes out for a few seconds as he throws his head back and forth. He's usually easily distracted with a song though.
